Here you will find out how Eternity began and formed to become one of Londons top street sounds on the underground circuit.
In 1989 a group of 5 friends aged between 14 - 16 living in Catford , South East London decided to get together and start a sound system due to there love of music. It started with a collection of about 50 records, some borrowed, some inherited from older members of the family and some actually bought from the local record store. They then started playing at their local youth club St Marys in Lewisham as a ragga sound once a week. It was at this time they made there name within the local area. A couple of years down the line things really took off and they started to clash other sounds from surrounding areas. To name a few Pisces from Brockley, New Generation from Lewisham and Wassey One. In 1992 the two main selectors Young Star & Bucky D secured themselves spots on the local pirate radio station Genesis FM. This gave Eternity the chance to promote themselves all over London and they took full advantage, and also changed the style of music they played to cater for a wider audience. By this time they were playing at house parties, weddings, local night clubs and many other venues. In 1995 they then secured spots on another pirate radio staion in East London called Klimaxx Fm and this then gave them the opportunity to gain an audience in the heart of East London. By 1998 Eternity made their way into the so called "Premiership League" of street sounds along side the top DJs and sounds in London and secured themsleves shows on South Londons No.1 pirate radio station Vogue 90.4fm where Young Star secured the prime time spot of 6pm - 9pm Saturday evenings alongside Aitch from Arista street team playing slow jams and rare grooves, and Bucky D secured a saturday afternoon ragga show from 2pm - 4pm. You can currently tune into Eternity on Lightning fm 90.8 Sunday afternoons from 12pm - 2pm. In 1999 Eight Ball Promotions were formed and they created the notorious stream of house parties in that year. Namely "DOUBLE WHAMMY". Form March 1999 Part 1 was Eternity celebrating their 10th anniversary at Courthill Road, Part 2 was Young Star's big Taurean Birthday Bash at Catford Hill, Part 3 & 4 were held on Stanstead Road, Part 5 was a house on Brownhill Road - Bucky D's birthday bash and Part 6 went to Clapton East London for Eternity's pre xmas bash. |
